Description:

Terrible events occur at the isolated Overlook Hotel. It's a place where the guests are deceased but not necessarily departed, high in the wintry Rocky Mountains in the off season. A family checks in so that the father can write, but terror lurks behind every door. Their son, who has psychic powers but does not know that he has them and does not know how to use them, struggles to hold his own against the forces of evil that are slowly driving his father insane.

Several gay and bisexual male characters are mentioned, but not exactly in the most positive of lights. One bisexual man enjoys degrading a gay man who is enamored to him.

Also, it is not clear if this story does involve ghosts, rather than evil forces, psychic echoes, or the like.

I stopped reading King after he found it necessary to include gay incest/rape scenes (more than one) that had absolutely nothing to do with advancing the plot.
