Queer Horror

The Queer Horror Awards

Intro | Award Winners

The QueerHorror awards are awarded during July for the previous year. Nominations close in April. To have your item included, please contact QVamp.

The Queer Horror Awards were created to honor works that involve significant, and generally positive, portrayal of gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender characters, issues or themes within the area of horror. Horror, for the purposes of these awards, includes things traditionally considered horror, as well as dark fantasy, noir, and even other genres if they are dealing with significant horror elements, such as ghosts, vampires, werewolves, or other monsters.

Many types of items are appropriate for these awards, and include (but are not necessarily limited to):

  • movies
  • tv shows
  • short stories
  • novels
  • scholarly articles

Nominations for the awards are open to the public. Once nominated, the item must be reviewed by a volunteer for QueerHorror.com to be considered appropriate. If the item cannot be found by the volunteer within a reasonable timeframe (or for a reasonable price), it may not be included in the final nominees. Because of the volunteer nature of the website, the members of QueerHorror.com do encourage those who wish their item to be included to contact QueerHorror.com for information on how to get reviewer copies to the awards committee.

If you would like to become part of the awards committee, please be willing to read and/or see all nominations for that year.
