An unusual and disjointed book. The premise was a pretty non-standard one, but during a lot of the book you'll find yourself wondering why the characters are acting the way that they're acting. When there is a discovery that another species is trying to wipe out the human race, would you spend all your time trying to figure out which members of your club is part of that species?
Numerous characters in this book are queer. One of the 'old people' is in a same sex relationship. The son of a main character is the object of affection of one of his male friends, and another old person admits to having slept with male and female 'beautiful people.'
