Against by Todd Verow (movie, 2001) - Supposedly about a drag queen in a haunted apartment. As near as I could tell from watching it, it was an 'artistic' movie about a drag queen going insane. No discernable plot, no ghosts, no horror content (run away!). Airscream by Bruce, John (book, 1978) - Appears to be a gay thriller about an airline disaster. Doesn't appear to really be horror, though it may fall into the dark thrillers category. Apt Pupil by Bryan Singer (movie, 1998) - from the book by Stephen King) - Thriller with no gay content, other than a gay director and actor. The Best Man to Die by Rendell, Ruth (book, 1969) - A murder mystery, not horror. The Black Chalice by Jakober, Marie (book, 2002) - While it is a book about female werewolves, there is no lesbian content. Black Sun (Die Schwarze Sonne) by Brehm, Dietmar (short movie, 1992, Austria) - A straight sci-fi movie (short). Contains iffy 'trans' content. Blicklust by Brehm, Dietmar (short movie, 1992, Austria) - Strange clips of straight porno and surgery intertwined. No discernable plot, not really horror and not really queer. The Blind Bow-Boy by Van Vechten, Carl (book, 1920s) - Unlikely to have horror content. Described as a 'sparkling' gay novel of the 1920s (when 'gay' meant something completely different) Blood Brothers by Michael Schiefelbein (book, 2002) - A book often written about on vampire and gay sites. However, this contains no vampires and is not really horror. The Book of Skulls by Robert Silverberg (book, 1972) - This is really close, but it seems to be more sci-fi than horror. The Book of Skulls With a New Introduction by Silverberg, Robert (book, 1979) - no horror content The Brotherhood III: Young Demons by David DeCoteau (movie, 2002) - Though produced by an openly gay director, there is no queer content. There is some homoerotic content due to a shower scene where a male showers provocatively in his underwear, but that's it. The Brotherhood IV: The Complex by David DeCoteau (movie, 2005) - Unfortunately this movie does have as much homoerotic content as the original 'The Brotherhood,' and is covered on the horror front by having succubus content. But it is a few years too late for inclusion. Since queer horror content is now mostly common-place, and this has no queer characters, themes or plots, it was rejected. Caracole by White, Edmund (book, 1985) - no horror content The Castle (porn movie) by Otto Von Hosselburg - No horror or ghost content. German guys have sex in a castle. Castration Castle by Falkon, Felix Lance (book, 1970) - This is a Nazi S&M fantasy novel. Horrific, but no horror content. Chorus of Witches by Buckland, Paul (book, 1959) - A gay romance - not horror. Count Yorga, Vampire (movie) and Return of Count Yorga (movie, 1970 / 71) - Though written up somewhere as having minor lesbian content, none stood out. The count is impeccable, well-mannered and surrounded by antiques. But, this didn't seem enough to classify it as even having significant 'queer sensibility' The Damned by MacDonald, John D. (book, 1952) - No horror content. Dancer from the Dance by Andrew Holleran [pseud. Eric Garber] (book, 1978) - No horror content Dangerous Island (porn movie, 2001). No horror content. The 'haunted island' is actually about being kidnapped by gang men. The Dark by John Panther McGahern (book, 2002) -- no horror content The Dark. (book, 1983) - no horror content. Coming of age in Ireland book. The Dark Mother by Frank, Waldo (book, 1920) - No horror content The Dark Pageant by Lucie-Smith, Edward (book, 1986) - A historical novel, not horror or thriller related. The Dark Side by Hornig, Doug (book, 1986) - A mystery novel, not horror. Queer content unconfirmed. The Dark Tunnel by Ross Macdonald (book, 1944) - A mystery novel, not horror. Queer content unconfirmed. The Detective by Gordon Douglas (movie, 1968) - Anti-gay, not horror. Don't Dick with the Devil (porn movie, 1998) - Doesn't involve the devil, no horror content. Seems to involve a woman asking a wizard to cast a spell. Delicate Dependency by Michael Talbot (book, 1982) - Supposedly a great story, though the gay content is pretty minor, at best.. The Demon of Noon by Merrick, Gordon (book, 1954) - A story showing a father's reaction to his gay son. No horror content. The Devil Is Loose, a Novel by Shelby, Graham (book, 1974/1975) - A historical novel, no horror content. The Devil's Advocate by West, Morris L. (book, 1959) - no horror content. Canonization process of a priest; nothing to do with horror. The Devil's Profession, a Novel of the Theater by O'Neil, Russell (book, 1964) - This is a theatrical novel containing G/L characters, but no horror or horror-related content. Dracula (1969, movie) - BBC production claimed as being the first gay vampire movie by many 'experts' and sites. A BBC Dracula movie with Denholm Elliot. I’ve confirmed that has no gay vampire content in it. Dragon of the Mangroves: Inspired by True Events of World War II (2006, book) - Japanese book with no horror or queer content. It is historical fiction about some horrifying experiences: not a bad read but not a great one either Faculty, The by Robert Rodriquez (1998, movie) - While this is a horror movie, there is no queer content. A main character is called a dyke in a homophobic fashion because of her slightly manish ways. She proves to be heterosexual. Fantômas by Allain, Marcel (book, 1911-1913) - French mysteries with no queer horror content. The Faustus Contract by Townsend, Larry (book, 1994) - Though this book is dark and brutal, it is not technically horror Funeral Games by Renault, Mary (book, 1981) - A novel about Alexander the Great, no horror content. Gay Brotherhood, The by Brad Teumpus (book, 1974) - No horror content. Book summary is: "Meet Billy - young. gay and innocent. He knew nothing of the underworld, until he found himself in it. Meet Jerry - all man, all stud, and every gay's dream. Just never turn your back on him. Meet Tony and Paulod - sons of a notorious crime czar, who were something more than brothers. They are the players - in a game where double dealing, trickery and danger are all part of the ground rules. Gayniggers from Outer Space by Morten Lindberg (movie, 1992) - A sci-fi comedy. No horror. Ginger Snaps (movie, 2000) by John Fawcett - A really good female werewolf movie that is highly recommended. However, it contains no lesbian content. There is a slight suggestion of sexual content between two sisters, but it was said to disturb, not to imply sexual desire. Again, if you like women werewolves, this is recommended. Gravedigger by Hansen, Joseph (book, 2000) - Mystery, not horror Guess What Happened to Count Dracula (movie, 1970) - No overt or veiled references to homosexuality. Rumor has it that there may be an X-rated version of the film that has a gay orgy, but (after spending a long time looking) there is no real indication that this ever existed. The Haunted Gay by Eric Forester (Original Mask Reader, pulp novel) - heterosexual pulp (made when 'gay' meant something different). Hellbound in Leather (book) - No horror content, this is a tale of sex, drugs, and motorcycles The History of Caliph Vathek (book, 1786) - Articles written about its queer content appear to be stretched so far to make something out of nothing, or trying to use word trickery to justify their thoughts. Even taking its age into account, no queer content, then or now. Home Boy Hell (movie, 2001) - Gay porn that involves being cryogenically frozen, but no horror content. House of Wax (movie, 2005) - no gay characters/themes. Gay remarks are used in a negative manner. Hostage by Zimmerman, R.D. (book, 1998) - No (supernatural) horror content. A gay men with AIDS kidnaps a homophobic senator and gives him AIDS. Hotel Hell by Kenneth Holloway (porn movie, 1984). Has nothing to do with a hellish hotel or anything horrific. In the Shade of the Slowboat Man by Dean Wesley Smith (story, 1997) - A story about a het couple where one is a vampire. No queer content and barely any horror content The Incredible Dyke by James Edward Quinn (movie, 2007) - An amusing retelling of The Incredible Hulk storyline, but no horror content. The Immortal by Ross, Walter (book, 1958/1959) - A fictitious account of James Dean's life - no horror content. Jack the Modernist by Robert Gluck (book, 1986)- There is no werewolf content in this, it just mentions the movie "American Werewolf in London." The Killer Queens by Scott, Michael (book, 1968) - A soldier novel, no horror content. The Lake of Darkness by Rendell, Ruth (book, 1981) - A mystery novel that might contain some horror elements Last House on the Left by Wes Craven (movie, 1972) - A terrible movie focusing on the degradation, beating and rape of women. While there is woman-on-woman action, it is forced upon them to horrify them. There is a predatory woman watching it and copping a feel. However, its strained connection to the horror genre and its hatred of women make it not worthy of inclusion here. The Lives and Deaths of Roland Greer by Pyke, Richard (book, 1929) - A gay son in messed up household, no horror content. Living the Spirit by Roscoe, Will (book, 1988) - A gay American Indian anthology with no horror/ghost content. Metamorphosis of the Vampire by Charles Baudelaire (poem) - Lesbian content claimed to exist is not apparent in any noticeable way. Mime After Midnight by Armando D. Muñoz, (movie short, 2003) - Campy and horrific, but no queer content. Mrs. Porter's Letter by McConnell (book, 1982), Vicki P. - A lesbian mystery, no horror content. My Holy Satan : The Testament of Man a Novel of Christian Twilight by Vardis Fisher (book, 1960) - A historical novel tracing the roots of religion - no horror content. Nightbreed by Clive Barker (movie, 1990) - This was listed in Monster in the Closet as having gay overtones to it and a gay background character. Because no character identified him/herself as being gay and no love interest involved same sex couples, I didn't include this movie. At best it had a fairly cute guy and a character that delivered a campy line. Night of the Creeps by Fred Dekker (movie, 1986) - This was listed in a gay horror site as having an obvious relationship between a gay man and a straight man. While this was definitely a buddy flick, neither guy identified overtly or subvertly as gay. Nightmare of the Dark by Silberstang, Edwin (book, 1967) - holocaust literature?? Ninth Life by Douglas, Lauren Wright (book, 1990) - A lesbian mystery - no horror content. The Petty Demon by Sologub, Fyodor (book, 1962) - no horror content Pervula by Armando D. There is a curse, but it only makes men want to have sex. The Possession of Amber by Jose, Nicholas (book, 1980) - no horror content Prick by Wrik Mead (movie, 2007) - no horror content. Silly animation about a penis with BDSM tendencies. Psycho Beach Party by Robert Lee King (movie, 2000) - though plenty of queer content and has a slasher, this is a bit too much of a comedy to be included as a thriller. The Queen of the Night by Behm, Marc (book, 1977) - A gay/trans Nazi story. Possibly horrific, but no horror. Queer Fear by Neville Corbett (pulp, 1970) - A spy story, no horror content Queer Witch Project by Vivid (movie, 2000) - A collection of gay porn shorts. Other than a 5 minute short called 'Moan' which appears to be a gay porn take on the movie 'Scream', there is no horror content in this, and we can only assume the title was meant to mislead while playing off of the success of The Blair Witch Project. Reflecting Skin (movie, 1999) by Philip Ridley - If you like watching horrible things happen to horrid people under the guise of 'A beautiful but tragic slice of Americana', then this movie is for you. The only gay content is that a closeted bi man ends up killing himself because of the town's homophobia early in the film. Along the horror front, a woman is thought to be a vampire by a child, but isn't. Satanic Suck by J. W. Schooter (pulp novel, 1987) - In spite of the name and the cover (possibly the wrong story was put into the cover on printing?), this has no horror content. It is about a boy growing up and realizing he likes sex with men, and finds out from his father that he needn't be monogamous. More suspense/mystery A Sitter for a Satyr by Andrzeyevski, George (book, 1965) - No horror content Six Inch Spikes by Edo van Belkom (book, 2001) - No appreciable queer content. The She-Wolf of France by Druon, Maurice (book, 1960) - A historical novel. No werewolf/horror content The Shortest Way to Hades by Caudwell, Sarah (book, 1985) - A murder mystery, not horror. Slumber Party Massacre by Amy Holden Jones (movie, 1982) - Supposedly the first feminist slasher movie made by a lesbian director. While it is unique in the focusing on women and women destroying the slasher without the help of males, it is still fairly objectifying of women. It does have some strong women who could be coded as being lesbian, or just strong women. Not overt enough lesbian coding for inclusion. Someone Bought the House on the Island by Kenneth Lynn Anderson (book, 1999) - Vampires are mentioned on the back cover, but they don't appear to have anything to do with the story Something Queer at the Scary Movie by Levy, Elizabeth Demco (book, 1995) - Children's book. Sunday, Bloody Sunday by John Schlesinger (movie, 1971) - No horror content, though a potential thriller. Tales from the Dark Lord II by John Preston (book, 1994) - A BDSM story listed in several lists. Confirmed to have no horror/vampire content. A Thirsty Evil, Seven Short Stories by Vidal, Gore (book, 1958) - A collection of gay short stories. No horror or vampire content included. To Fall Like Lucifer by Henry, Ian (book, 1971) - A biography where Harvey was caught with a Guardsman in St James's Park in 1958. Topsy and Evil by Baxt, George (book, 1968) - A mystery story, not horror Ty Merrick series by Vitola, Denise (book, 1996-1999) - About a female who is a 'mental werewolf'. No indication of same-sex interest exists. Urbania (movie, 2000) - a dark and confusing movie about a gay man seeking revenge. This is not horror, and also not a thriller (like it claims to be). At best, it is a gay vengeance fantasy film. The Value of X by Poppy Z Brite (book, 2003) - Though this was written by Brite, who specializes in gay horror, this contains no horror content. The Vampire by Charles Baudelaire (poem) - Written as containing lesbian content, none is apparent. Vampire's Honeymoon by Cornell Woolrich (book, 1985) - A short story collection; only the title story is vampiric. It is unlikely to have queer content.
